Day 1
Friday 14th October
Camposol Spain to Camping La sierrecilla Humilladoro N37 06.530 W04 41.730
238 miles
Finally we leave home after a weeks delay waiting for our foreign exchange. A few friends gathered to se us of and wish us luck. We think that they are more worried than us about what to expect.
After a couple of comfort breaks we arrive at our campsite for the night and set up camp. (€15/night with camping card). A new site with excellent facilities and the biggest pool you can imagine. Though to cold to try.
Day 2
Humilladoro to Camping Sureuropa Nr. Linea de la concepcion N36 11.391 W5 19.964 156 miles
Didn’t sleep much last night as it was blowing a gale or so it seemed all night half expected the tent to take of with us in it. Anyway in the morning all seemed fine so a good test of the tent I suppose.
Away early taking our time heading for the coast. We stopped for café and tostada con aciete at a roadside café, very nice. The Landy does draw attention when we stop, one guy reversed back to it for a close inspection.
Arrived at Camping Sureoropa which is part of a centre for physically handicapped people, they have set up a small campsite and sports area to help raise funds for the centre. Its only 25 mins from Algeciras port which is why we picked it. Before going to the site we had a recce around Algeciras and brought our ferry tickets for Monday. The ferry cost us €135 brought from an office next to Carrefour in town, cheaper than online or direct from the ferry operators. The guy couldn’t understand why we only wanted a one way ticket!
Chilled out in the evening and had an early night to catch up on our sleep.
Day 3
As Above
Slept like babies all night, great. Took a walk to La Linea along the coast for some exercise returning for lunch. Could have got the bus to Gibraltar as its only a few miles along the coast but we forgot to take our passports with us. In the afternoon we had a sort out of the paperwork we will need tomorrow as the real adventure starts as we get the ferry to Ceuta and then its Afrrricaaaa.
Time to relax I think before it all kicks off.
